Biography

Sarah Dyer-Jones, mezzo-soprano, leads a multifaceted career spanning opera, concert, musical theatre, and chamber music. She has performed a wide range of roles with companies including Houston Grand Opera, Central City Opera, Music Academy of the West, Ars Lyrica, Opera in the Ozarks, and the Moores Opera Center. Notable performances include Katie in Katie: The Strongest of the Strong, Hattie in Kiss Me, Kate, Federico García Lorca in Ainadamar, Madame Larina in Eugene Onegin, Cornelia in Giulio Cesare, and Madame de la Haltière in Cendrillon, among others. She has also been seen as featured soloist in Sondheim on Sondheim, Handel’s Messiah, and in Houston Grand Opera’s Seeking the Human Spirit series.

 

Beyond her work on stage, Ms. Dyer-Jones is passionate about musicology, education, and community engagement. As an undergraduate, she conducted research in Rwanda and Cuba, exploring how music evolves during times of historical and social transformation. She is the founder of ConTempoan interdisciplinary organization dedicated to inclusivity and accessibility in the performing arts, with a mission to bring transformative musical experiences to communities beyond traditional concert spaces.

A lifelong advocate for creative expression in all forms, Sarah also trains in circus arts and frequently incorporates aerial and physical theatre techniques into her performances across genres, blurring boundaries between disciplines and expanding what it means to tell stories through music.
