Biography

Soprano Laura Corina Sanders is a native of San Francisco and currently resides in Houston, Texas. She recently completed her second and final year as a Resident Artist at Shreveport Opera, where she was featured as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Micaëla in La Tragédie de Carmen, and Gilda in Rigoletto. She is a first prize winner of the 2018 Lotte Lenya Competition, and an encouragement award winner in the 2019 Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions. She was a Studio Artist at Wolf Trap Opera in 2018, and an apprentice artist at Central City Opera in 2021.  

Laura received her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from the Eastman School of Music, where she performed multiple leading roles in Cendrillon, The Pirates of Penzance, and L’incoronazione di Poppea. She will make her debut with Hawaii Opera Theatre as Mary in their 2022 production of Nolan Gasser’s The Secret Garden.
