Biography

Baritone Evan Cooper grew up in Waco, Texas, and currently lives in Houston. In Spring of 2021, he completed his Master of Music in Voice Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Houston, where he studied with Hector Vasquez. Currently, he teaches as amember of the adjunct voice faculty at Lone Star-Kingwood, and maintains a voice studio of high school students all over the greater Houston area. Most recently, he has performed as Billy in Chapelwood UMC’s Production of Some Enchanted Evening, as Count Almaviva in Opera Neo’s production of Le Nozze di Figaro, with the Moores Opera Center as Simone in Mozart’s La Finta Semplice, as Dandini in Rossini’s La Cenerentola, and the title role of Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Other previous performances with the Moores Opera Center include Bob in Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Thief, and Il Marito in Menotti’s Amelia al Ballo. Evan holds a bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin where he studied voice with Nikita Storojev.
