Biography

During HGO's 2026-27 season, Bruno Ravella makes his company directorial debut staging his own production of Der Rosenkavalier. Previously at HGO, he served as Associate Director for Otello (2014) and Ariadne auf Naxos (2011).  Other projects this season include new productions of Gounod’s Mireille for Opéra de Lausanne and La traviata for Opera Theater St Louis, as well as revivals of Salome for Seattle Opera and Falstaff for Garsington Opera. Projects in 2025-26 season included Massenet’s Don Quichotte for Opéra de Lausanne, The Barber of Seville for Grange Park Opera, and a revival of Der Rosenkavalier at Garsington Opera (also at the Santa Fe Opera in 2024). Other recent work includes a new production of La bohème for New Zealand Opera, the French premiere of Porpora’s Polifemo for Opéra de Lille (co-production with Opéra national du Rhin), and Donizetti’s Zoriada di Granada for Wexford Opera Festival (co-production with Teatro Donizetti Bergamo). His production of Salome, created for Irish National Opera in 2024, was revived at Teatro Massimo di Palermo in spring 2025.
