Italian American Soprano, Alicia Gianni, is best known for her fluency in several genres and was previously nominated for Houston's Best Jazz Vocalist by the Houston Press Music Awards. An alumna of the Houston Grand Opera Butler Studio, she received both 2nd prize and Audience Choice in HGO's Eleanor McCollum Competition. Some of her numerous performances with HGO include Holy St. Francis's Trainer in Vinkensport, Rosalba in Florencia en el Amazonas, Giannetta in L'Elisir D'Amore , Papagena in The Magic Flute, Petra in A Little Night Music , Beryl in Brief Encounter (World Premiere), Musetta in La Boheme, and Gretel in Hansel and Gretel. She has also collaborated with Houston MasterWorks, Cantare, Houston Symphony, Victoria Symphony, Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra, The Houston Ballet, Arizona Opera, Opera Birmingham, Houston Dance Salad Festival, River Oaks Chamber Orchestra, Wolf Trap Opera, Palm Beach Symphony Orchestra, Florida West Coast Symphony, and many others. She released her debut jazz album, Don't Forget to Say Goodnight and performs regularly with The Alicia Gianni Quartet.
