What holiday memories do we cherish the most? Probably those that involve people we love. Composer Ricky Ian Gordon and librettist Royce Vavrek thought a lot about those memories while they worked on creating a brand new family-friendly holiday opera for HGO. Based on a beloved 1972 TV special and book, The House without a Christmas Tree tells the story of Addie, a young girl who simply wants a Christmas tree and cannot understand why her father won’t allow it. Bring your loved ones young and old to The House without a Christmas Tree, November 30–December 17 at the HGO Resilience Theater at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Filled with tunes and running a little over an hour, it’s a great treat for the whole family.
