A grand fiesta honoring the vibrant culture and creative contributions of Mexico!

“Cielito Lindo”——loosely translated to “pretty darling” or “heavenly one”—is a traditional Mexican song written by Quirino Mendoza y Cortes in 1882 and beloved throughout the Spanish-speaking world and beyond as a symbol of love and unity.

Always a premier occasion on Houston’s gala calendar, Opera Ball brings together the city’s most notable movers, shakers, and tastemakers for an epic evening in support of HGO.  Opera Ball 2019: Cielito Lindo will be freely inspired by Mexico’s rich, vibrant culture and an extraordinary mix of influences and creative collisions—a land that inspires awe with its art, landscapes, architecture, folklore, and cuisine—all buoyed by the colorful and resilient spirit of its people.

This elegant white tie event begins at 7:00 p.m. with a cocktail reception, tequila lounge, and silent auction featuring a highly curated collection of luxury goods, trips, and fine wines. The fiesta continues with the flavors of Mexico—una cena deliciosa artfully crafted by A Fare Extraordinaire Catering—and a special appearance by two-time Grammy Award-winning Mariachi los Camperos, last seen in HGO’s stirring mariachi opera Cruzar la Cara de la Luna.
