(2009). Stepped in for an ailing colleague to sing the title role in Rigoletto at Miller Outdoor Theatre. Third place winner in the 2008 Eleanor McCollum Competition Concert of Arias. About the Artist: Originally from Hermosillo, Mexico, Octavio Moreno received his bachelor's degree in voice at the Universidad de Sonora and was a member of the artist program at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. Moreno represented Mexico in the 2009 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition and the 2010 Paris International Competition, and took third place in the Carlo Morelli competition in Mexico City. Moreno made his Bellas Artes Debut (Mexico City) in June 2011 as Hortensius in The Daughter of the Regiment. With Houston's Opera in the Heights, he has performed Germont in La traviata, Malatesta in Don Pasquale, Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor, and the title role of Rigoletto.
