An initiative for inclusion.
Houston Grand Opera’s Overture is one of the most distinctive and culturally engaged groups in the performing arts industry. As one of Houston’s most established LGBTQIA+ audiences, Overture weaves together a community of opera lovers who have a common passion to help support the arts. Exclusive events throughout the season are headlined with star-studded guests such as international opera superstars, drag royalty, and prominent queer activists and icons.
Each Overture reception is a private-access mixer before the performance and during intermission, where members meet and mingle over complimentary cocktails with our special guests. On top of exclusive Overture pricing to each of the four performances each season, you also receive unrestricted entry to post-performance gatherings and other private events throughout the year.
Celebrate and cultivate your unique identity with HGO’s Overture this season — dates for the exclusive events are below.
2020–21 Overture Reception Updates
It is with a heavy heart we have announced the cancellation of all of the mainstage and Cullen Theater performances of the 2020–21 season, including productions of Breaking the Waves and Sound of Music in spring of 2021. Unfortunately, this means that we will not have Overture receptions during the 2020–21 season. More information about the 2021–22 season will be announced in early 2021.
