Giving Voice is SOLD OUT! Thank you to our audiences for the tremendous support. This year, HGO is partnering with Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, the Houston Ebony Opera Guild, Prairie View A&M University, and Texas Southern University for the fourth Giving Voice!

Hosted by KHOU’s Len Cannon, the concert will feature world-famous tenors George Shirley and Lawrence Brownlee; beloved soprano Nicole Heaston; two gifted Butler Studio artists, soprano Renée Richardson and bass Cory McGee; the incredible choirs from our presenting partners; and the world-class HGO Chorus.

The concert of gospel, opera, and spirituals will also feature one of HGO Composer-in-Residence Joel Thompson's choral works. Don’t miss this monumental performance inside Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church’s new Cathedral. 7:30 p.m. Friday, February 24. Free to the public.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:

5:30 p.m. – Box office opens at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church

6:30 p.m. – Doors to Cathedral open

7:30 p.m. – Giving Voice begins

9:00 p.m. – Performance ends. All guests are invited to a reception in the lobby following the end of the performance. 

This will be a sold-out performance. We expect heavy traffic when arriving at the Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church campus.

Please arrive at least one hour prior to the start of the performance to allow enough time for parking and getting to your seat. Guests who arrive late will be directed to an overflow location to enjoy the performance.
