About the artist:
Rohan Ramanan is a Los Angeles-based tenor with a diverse musical background. He has studied both Western and Indian classical voice for over two decades, and has been immersed in many styles of world music and fusion work. He is looking forward to his operatic debut in Another City. Ramanan performs with choirs throughout Southern California (Tonality, Catalyst Ensemble, Long Beach Camerata Singers, Laude, Pacific Chorale, and more) as an ensemble member and soloist. He also sings for film and television studio sessions as a member of SAG-AFTRA. His voice can be heard in recordings for Disney, Marvel, & National Geographic. Live performances include singing background vocals for Björk’s Cornucopia USA tour. Ramanan is also a Hindustani vocal soloist throughout the United States and internationally. He is the Vice President of the Avartan Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to Indian classical music education, exposure, and enrichment for future generations of diaspora. He also works a professional freelance oboist, having received his Bachelor of Music degree in Oboe/English horn performance from the University of California Irvine Claire Trevor School of the Arts. He is currently principal oboist with the Synesthesia Sinfonietta orchestra in Southern California, and plays oboe and English horn abroad in the South Asian Symphony Orchestra and the Shillong Chamber Orchestra.
