Melissa Dightman is a proud alumnus of Prairie View A&M University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, and the University of Houston, where she received a Master of Music Education degree with a concentration in choral conducting. She began her career as a music educator in La Marque, Texas, working with early childhood and elementary students. She later became the assistant choral director at Eisenhower High School in Houston, during which time she won multiple Sweepstakes awards with her junior varsity choir. She was promoted to be the head choral director at Nimitz High School, where she found similar success working with varsity level choirs. She currently serves as the adjunct choral director at her alma mater, Prairie View A&M University. Dightman is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, The Texas Choral Directors Association, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
