About:
Another City is Jeremy Howard Beck’s first opera for HGO. His acclaimed first opera was The Long Walk, also with a libretto by Stephanie Fleischmann, based on the memoir by Brian Castner. It was commissioned by American Lyric Theater, made its premiere in 2015 at Opera Saratoga, and went on to be performed by Utah Opera and Pittsburgh Opera. His concert music has been performed at the Aspen Music Festival & School, the Bang on a Can Marathon, Eastern Trombone Workshop, International Trombone Festival, and the Norfolk and Bang on a Can Summer Festivals. He has received grants from The MAP Fund, Opera America, NewMusicUSA, and JFund/American Composers Forum, as well as a 2014 Yaddo residency and a 2011 ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award. He studied at The Juilliard School with Christopher Rouse and John Corigliano, and at NYU with Deniz Hughes and Mark Adamo.
