About the artist:
Amanda Majeski is making her HGO debut. Majeski holds degrees from the Curtis Institute of Music and Northwestern University, and was a member of San Francisco Opera’s Merola Program and Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Ryan Opera Center. Her 2022-23 season centers her role debut as Strauss’s Salome, both at HGO and with Madison Opera in her home state of Wisconsin. She also returns to the title role of Káťa Kabanová with the London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle. Majeski made her role debut as Káťa to great acclaim at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in 2019. Highlights of her 2021-22 season included the title role in Káťa Kabanová with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, conducted by Karina Canellakis, her debut at The Netherlands Opera in Amsterdam, singing Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and a return to Teatro Real Madrid, appearing as the Third Norn and Gutrune in Wagner’s Götterdämmerung. She has sung multiple leading roles at the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, Glyndebourne Festival, Frankfurt Opera, and Semperoper Dresden, and has also appeared with Paris Opera, Zurich Opera, and Staatsoper Stuttgart.
