About the artist:
Mezzo-soprano Zoie Reams has been lauded by Opera News for her “velvety mezzo” voice. In the 2019-2020 season, Ms. Reams sings Maddalena in Rigoletto at both Houston Grand Opera and Opera San Antonio. She also sings Jan Arnold in Everest and Georgia Davenport in Freedom Ride with Chicago Opera Theater, and the title role in Marian’s Song with HGOco. In concert, she performs the Messiah with Washington National Cathedral. Recent highlights include her debut at Lyric Opera of Chicago as Flora in La Traviata, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly at Opera Columbus, and the title role of Carmen at Opera Louisiane.
Ms. Reams has previously appeared at Houston Grand Opera as the Third Secretary in John Adams’s Nixon in China and the Alto Winged Angel in the world premiere of Jake Heggie’s It’s A Wonderful Life, as well as in the world premiere of Kaminsky’s Some Light Emerges. She completed her studies with the Houston Grand Opera studio, where she sang Flora in La traviata, Dritte Magd in Elektra, and Rosalia in West Side Story, among many others. Ms. Reams holds a Master of Music from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor of Music from Lawrence University.
