Music & Healing Returns for Season 2!
From October to March, HGO’s Artistic and Music Director, Patrick Summers, will meet with Medical and Musical professionals to discuss music’s growing use in clinical practice. This season we will cover subjects like Traumatic Brain Injury, PTSD in the Veteran Community, Social Emotional Wellness, Music Therapy and the Autism Spectrum, and more! Season One
In Season One of Music & Healing, Houston Grand Opera's Artistic and Music Director, Patrick Summers, met with medical professionals, community group leaders, and artists across disciplines to discuss the expanding role that music plays in medical care. We learned many things along the way, but were mostly reminded of music's intense power to heal- not just anecdotally, but clinically as well!

Episode 1: Center for Performing Arts Medicine, Houston Methodist

November 17th, 2020 at 1 p.m. - Patrick Summers with Todd Frazier from Methodist Hospital
Patrick Summers will be joined by Todd Frazier, a composer and system director for the Houston Methodist Hospital’s Center for Performing Arts Medicine. Also joining the conversation is Jennifer Townsend, Manager of Creative Arts Therapies, who has helped lead the collaboration between HGO Community and Learning and Methodist Hospital on the Seeking the Human Spirit residencies.
