About the Artist: Claudia Mahnke has performed with the Stuttgart State Opera, where she was an ensemble member from 1996 to 2006, when she was given the honor of Kammersängerin; the Komische Oper Berlin; San Francisco Opera, National Opera of Lyon, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Cologne Opera; Bavarian State Opera; and many others. Since the beginning of the 2006–07 season, she has been an ensemble member of the Frankfurt Opera, where she has appeared as Magdalena in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Charlotte in Werther, Bianca in Zemlinsky’s A Florentine Tragedy, Lucretia in The Rape of Lucretia, Conception in The Spanish Hour, Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro, Silla in Palestrina, Miranda in Thomas Adès’s The Tempest, Giulietta in The Tales of Hoffmann, Marguerite in The Damnation of Faust, and Brangäne in Tristan and Isolde. Highlights include singing Oberto in Alcina in a guest performance of State Opera Stuttgart at the Edinburgh Festival, a performance that has been released on DVD, and singing the title role of Hartmann’s Simplicius Simplicissimus in Stuttgart and at the Munich Opera Festival, also recorded and released on DVD. Among her honors, she was named Young Singer of the Year by the magazine Opernwelt (1998).
