About the Artist: Christine Goerke has appeared with the Metropolitan Opera; San Francisco Opera; Santa Fe Opera; Washington National Opera; Seattle Opera; Opera Company of Philadelphia; Pittsburgh Opera; New York City Opera; Glimmerglass Opera; Royal Opera, Covent Garden; Paris Opera; Théâtre du Châtelet; La Scala; Maggio Musicale Fiorentino; Teatro Municipal de Santiago; and the Saito Kinen Festival. Her repertoire includes the title roles in Ariadne auf Naxos, Norma, and Iphigénie en Tauride; Kundry in Parsifal; Ortrud in Lohengrin; Leonore in Fidelio; Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus; Ellen Orford in Peter Grimes; Female Chorus in The Rape of Lucretia; Alice in Falstaff; and Madame Lidone in Dialogues of the Carmelites. She has appeared with such orchestras as the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, National Symphony Orchestra, New World Symphony, Houston Symphony, Duluth Symphony, Sydney Symphony, and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. This season’s engagements include the title role in Elektra in Madrid and concerts with the New World Symphony, Houston Symphony, and Seattle Symphony. Upcoming engagements include her first Brünnhilde in Die Walküre with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra; Elektra at the Lyric Opera of Chicago; and Ortrud at Deutsche Oper Berlin. She received the 2001 Richard Tucker Award.
