During HGO’s 2026-27 season, Sean Michael Plumb performs the role of Valetin in Faust. Previously for the company, he performed as Albert in Werther (2023). Other roles for the 2026-27 season include Papageno in The Magic Flute with Festival d’Aix-em-Provence, Dandini in Cinderella with La Monnaie-De Munt, Marcello in La bohème with Semperoper Dresden, the title role of Eugene Onegin with Irish National Opera, and Melot in Tristan and Isolde with Tiroler Festspiele Erl. In the 2025-26 season, Plumb performed the title role in Billy Budd in both a new production at the Opéra de Lyon and in a debut at the Teatro Colón; returned to the Metropolitan Opera as Schaunard in La bohéme, which was also streamed around the world for the Met Live in HD Series; made his debut at the Semperoper Dresden as Marcello in La bohéme; returned as Papageno in The Magic Flute; and sang Papageno in a new production of The Magic Flute at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence. Winner of a 2022 Career Grant from the Richard Tucker Music Foundation, Plumb was honored by President Obama as a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts at a ceremony at The White House. He has garnered a multitude of awards including the Grand Prize of the 2016 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and top prize at the 2016 Gerda Lissner Foundation International Vocal Competition.
