Biography

Ron Dukes is making his HGO debut. His recent performances include the role of A Corporal in The Daughter of the Regiment at Lyric Opera of Chicago, John Henry in We Shall Not be Moved at Pittsburgh Opera, and Sam in The Factotum at Lyric Opera of Chicago. Dukes is a former Studio Artist at Wolf Trap Opera, where he sang Truffaldino in Ariadne and Naxos, and at the Glimmerglass Festival, where he performed the roles Old Gypsy in Il trovatore, and Second Priest and Second Armored Man in The Magic Flute. He recently concluded a residency with Pensacola Opera, singing Basilio in The Barber of Seville and Sarastro in The Magic Flute. He has extensive experience with local, start-up opera companies in Bloomington, Indiana, including Bloomington Chamber Opera, where he portrayed Sarastro in The Magic Flute, and A Little Knight Music Opera Company, where he was heard as Oroveso in Norma. Dukes served as Associate Instructor of Voice at the Jacobs School at Music of Indiana University and performed numerous featured roles with IU Opera Theatre, among them Bartolo (The Marriage of Figaro), Don Basilio (The Barber of Seville), and Simone (Gianni Schicchi).
