During HGO’s 2026-27 season, Ken Billington serves as lighting designer for Show Boat. Billington is an international lighting designer working in theater, television, and architecture. He has designed lighting for 22 HGO productions, including Aida for the opening of the Wortham Center. His 105 Broadway designs include the original production of Sweeney Todd and the current Chicago, the longest running American musical in history. Other Broadway productions include Smash; New York, New York; Waitress; Hugh Jackman Back on Broadway; White Christmas; Title of Show; and Footloose; plus revivals of My Fair Lady, Hello Dolly!, Sunday in the Park with George (2008, 2017), Annie, and Fiddler on the Roof. He has designed for spectaculars including The Radio City Music Hall Christmas Show for 27 years, as well as the Las Vegas production show Jubilee! For theme parks, he designed lighting for the original Fantasmic! at Disneyland California, in addition to numerous shows for Seaworld Parks in Florida, California, and Texas. His architectural work includes landmarks such as New York's Tavern on the Green and 54 Below. Billington is the recipient of many awards including a Tony. In 2015, he was inducted into The Theatre Hall of Fame.
