During the 2026-27 season, Josep Gil makes his HGO debut conducting the company’s third annual Family Day. Upcoming engagements include debuts with the Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias and Orquesta de Extremadura, as well as performances of Aida at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. Since January 2026, he has served as Music Director of the "Artística" Symphonic Band of Buñol (Spain). He has worked as assistant conductor at leading institutions including the Royal Opera of Wallonia, Palau de les Arts in Valencia, the Liceu, Teatro Real, and the Spanish National Orchestra and Choir. He has assisted distinguished conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, James Gaffigan, Gustavo Gimeno, and Daniel Oren. As an opera conductor, he made his debut at the Liceu in 2021 conducting Lucia di Lammermoor, followed by his German debut at the Komische Oper Berlin with Orphée aux Enfers. His repertoire includes more than 30 operatic titles. In the symphonic field, he has conducted orchestras including the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria, Orquesta Nacional de España, Orquesta Sinfónica de RTVE, Orquesta Comunitat Valenciana, and Orquesta de València. From 2023 to 2025, he served as associate conductor of the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria. He studied conducting at the National Conservatory of Estonia in Tallinn, where he completed master's degrees in both Orchestral and Choral Conducting.
