Biography

During HGO's 2026-27 season, Imogen Clarke makes her company debut serving as the revival lighting designer for The Magic Flute. Clarke is a lighting designer and associate designer working across dance, theater, and opera. In 2024, she was selected as the Design Lumière by the Association for Lighting Production and Design, which supports the development of emerging lighting designers. As part of the program, she spent four months assisting at Glyndebourne Opera House, followed by four months freelancing on various productions, including The Merry Widow with Ben Cracknell at Glyndebourne and MaddAddam with Lucy Carter at the Royal Ballet and Opera. Recent credits as lighting designer include Pelléas et Mélisande (2026), Chess the Musical (2026), INTOTO Dance (2026), Breakin’ Convention Festival (2026), and PwC’s The Little Mermaid Pantomime (2026). As an associate lighting designer, she most recently worked on Ballet Shoes (2026) at the National Theatre with Paule Constable and The BFG (2026) at the Esplanade Theatre Singapore with Zoe Spurr.
