Biography

During the 2025-26 season, Duke Kim makes his HGO debut as Nikolaus Sprink in Silent Night. Also during the 2025-26 season, Kim debuts at Semperoper Dresden, Teatro de la Maestranza, Washington Concert Opera, Teatr Wielki, and Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and returns to LA Opera. Previously for the company, he performed the role of Parpignol in La bohème at Miller Outdoor Theatre (2019). During the 2024-25 season, Kim debuted at the Metropolitan Opera in The Magic Flute (Tamino) and LA Opera in Roméo and Juliet (Roméo). He returned to Irish National Opera for The Elixir of Love (Nemorino); Seattle Opera for The Magic Flute (Tamino); and made his mainstage debut at Santa Fe Opera in Rigoletto (Duke). In the 2023-24 season, Kim made his debut with Irish National Opera and the Berkshire Opera Festival in Faust (title role), and with Pittsburgh Opera in La traviata (Alfredo). He also returned to Washington National Opera for his mainstage debut in Roméo and Juliet (Roméo) and performed with Seattle Opera and Des Moines Metro Opera in The Barber of Seville (Count Almaviva). Kim is a Second-Place Winner of Operalia (2022), Second-Place Winner at the inaugural Juan Pons International Singing Competition (2022), Grand Finals Winner of The Metropolitan Opera Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition (2021), and a recent graduate of the Cafritz Young Artist Program at the Washington National Opera. He is an alumnus of HGO’s Young Artist Vocal Academy.
