During HGO’s 2026-27 season, Deborah Nansteel makes her company debut performing as Mrs. McLean in Susannah. Also this season for the company, she performs the role of Dame Marthe Schwerlein in Faust. During the 2025-26 season, Nansteel returned to the Metropolitan Opera as Teresa in La Sonnambula, made her house debut with Minnesota Opera for the world premiere production of B.E. Boykin and Harrison David River’s My Name Is Florence, performed Mrs. Miller in Doubt for Opera Parallele, and returned to North Carolina Opera to sing as Azucena in Il trovatore.  Recent awards include Second Place in the Sun Valley Opera Vocal Competition in Seattle, the Andrew White Award and Seybold/Russell Award in the Corbett Opera Scholarship Competition, and a National Orpheus Vocal Competition Award. She also recently earned the highly esteemed Betty Allen Award and a grant from the Sullivan Foundation.
