About the Artist:
Brian Nason’s work has been seen at HGO most recently in the world premiere of Jake Heggie and Gene Scheer’s It’s a Wonderful Life (2016). Other HGO work includes A Little Night Music (2014), the world premiere of Ricky Ian Gordon and Leonard Foglia’s A Coffin in Egypt (2014), Cruzar la Cara de la Luna (2013), Dead Man Walking (2011), and the world premiere of Heggie and Scheer’s Three Decembers (2008). He has designed lighting on Broadway, Off-Broadway, regionally, and internationally, for opera, film, television, live events, galas, openings, and spectacles. His Broadway credits include The Mystery of Edwin Drood, featuring Chita Rivera; Thurgood, with Laurence Fishburne; On Golden Pond, starring James Earl Jones; Fortune’s Fool, with Alan Bates and Frank Langella; the world premiere of Arthur Millerʼs Broken Glass; Helen Mirren’s A Month in the Country, for which he received an Outer Critics Circle nomination; and many others. He was nominated for a Tony Award for Metamorphosis with Mikhail Baryshnikov. Recent opera credits include Dead Man Walking at Teatro Real in Madrid and West Side Story at La Scala.
