About the Artist:
Renée Brode’s work has been seen at HGO in Studio Showcase 2013 and the HGOco world premiere of Bound; she also realized the lighting for last season’s El Pasado Nunca Se Termina. For the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, she lit The Barber of Seville and Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria. Her productions with Stages Repertory Theatre include Mack and Mabel, Stupid F**ing Bird, and The Whipping Man, for which she won a Houston Press Theatre Award for Best Lighting Design, and at the Asia Society she lit Tsuru. Her numerous productions with the Grand Theatre, London, Ontario, include A Christmas Story, Shrek, Blue Suede Shoes, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Elf, Ring of Fire, The Hobbit, and Hair, and she worked with Canada’s Charlottetown Festival on Ted Dykstra’s Evangeline (world premiere), Anne of Green Gables, Hairspray, The Full Monty, Canada Rocks, Disco Cirque, and many others. For Canadian Opera Company, she lit Rigoletto and she worked with Canadian Opera Company Ensemble on Così fan tutte, among others.
