About the Artist:
Cesar Galindo’s designs have been seen at HGO in Cruzar la Cara de la Luna (2013, 2010) and in the world premiere of Three Decembers (2008). He began his career designing corsets and period costumes for the Miami City Ballet and then for Houston Grand Opera in his hometown. In the mid-1980s, he entered the garment business in New York, where his first position was with TSE Cashmere as a showroom manager, followed by a design position at Carmelo Pomodoro LTD. He launched his first collection in the late 1980s and was featured at New York City’s Martha International and Henri Bendel, and landed an Elle magazine cover with supermodel Karen Mulder. The Cesar Galindo brand had an international distribution along with an American market presence. Galindo also worked as a contract designer for 28 years, with brands such as Dolce&Gabbana, designing and producing couture looks for the brand’s celebrity clients such as Madonna, Missy Elliot, and Mary J. Blige. He also worked with Calvin Klein Women’s Collection for seven seasons under the direction of Francisco Costa and LAMB by Gwen Stefani, where he has worked for three seasons. For the Skylight Opera Theater in Milwaukee, he designed costumes for Cinderella (2015) and Powder Her Face (2016).
