Baritone Scott Hendricks has appeared regularly at HGO since his tenure in the HGO Studio (1997–99), most recently in the title role of Nixon in China in 2017. Other HGO roles include Eugene Onegin (2015), Sharpless in Madame Butterfly in 1999 and in2015, the role in which he also made his Metropolitan Opera debut; Amonasro in Aida (2013); Rodrigue in Don Carlos (2012); Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor (2011); the title role in Rigoletto (2009); and many others. Recent engagements include a return to the title role of Rigoletto at the Bregenz Festival; performances of Ruprecht in The Fiery Angel (Festival d’Aix-en-Provence); the title role in the world premiere of M – The City Looks for a Murderer (Komische Oper Berlin); Scarpia in Tosca (San Francisco Opera; Royal Opera, Covent Garden; Paris Opera; Washington National Opera; and Bavarian State Opera); Hamlet III in Die Hamletmaschine and Jack Rance in La fanciulla del West (Zurich Opera); the title roles in Sweeney Todd and Macbeth, Renato in Un ballo in maschera, Barnaba in La Giocanda (La Monnaie), Michelein Il tabarro, and the title role of Gianni Schicchi (Cologne Opera); Jaroslav Prus in Makropulos Case (Zurich Opera); Ruprecht in The Fiery Angel (Polish National Opera); and Count di Luna in Il trovatore (Cologne Opera, Opéra national du Rhin). In the 2019-20 season, he returns to Polish National Opera to reprise Ruprecht in The Fiery Angel, Opernhaus Zürich for his first performances of Jaroslav Prus in The Makropulos Case, and both Opéra national di Rhin and Oper Köln for Conte di Luna in Il trovatore.
