The Armadillo's Dream
Debuting November 5th
Houston Grand Opera is proud to introduce a new storybook,
The Armadillo’s Dream.
By Dennis Arrowsmith
Illustrated by Eduard Hakobyan
Based on a Bolivian folktale and written by HGO’s own Dennis Arrowsmith, this inspiring and timely tale stars an armadillo named Sandy who lives on the Houston bayou and dreams of singing. Though discouraged by the creatures he meets, Sandy is magically transformed during a storm and his shell becomes a part of a production at Houston Grand Opera. The book will debut in November with a series of free public performances of Storybook Opera around the city.
The Armadillo’s Dream is generously underwritten by Connie Kwan-Wong Foundation and CKW LUXE. All proceeds go to HGOco–Houston Grand Opera’s unique initiative that explores making opera relevant to its changing audience by connecting the company with our community through collaboration.
