El Sueño del Armadillo

This inspiring tale of determination follows Sandy, an armadillo who dreams of singing on stage at Houston Grand Opera. Though discouraged at first by the creatures he meets, Sandy perseveres, and his shell is magically transformed into a musical instrument, giving him his moment in the spotlight. Based on a Bolivian folk tale and written by HGO chorister Dennis Arrowsmith, The Armadillo’s Dream reminds us that no dream is impossible. The book is available in our Storybook Opera program.
The Armadillo’s Dream is generously underwritten by Connie Kwan-Wong Foundation and CKW LUXE. All proceeds go to HGOco–Houston Grand Opera’s unique initiative that explores making opera relevant to its changing audience by connecting the company with our community through collaboration.
