About the Artist: Janine Joseph holds degrees from the University of California, Riverside, and the creative writing program at New York University. She is a Ph.D. candidate in literature and creative writing at the University of Houston. Her poems are forthcoming from or have appeared in Best New Poets 2011, Asian American Literary Review, Hayden's Ferry Review, Third Coast, and elsewhere. A poetry editor for Gulf Coast, she also is a Kundiman Fellow and contributing editor for Tongue: A Journal of Writing and Art. She has taught creative writing, literature, and composition at the University of Houston and with Writers in the Schools (WITS), Community-Word Project, and the Starworks Foundation. A recipient of a Paul & Daisy Soros Foundation Fellowship for New Americans, Joseph was born in the Philippines.
