Storybook Opera

A special treat for students from Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd Grade!   (En Español)

HGOco's teaching artists animate children's stories and mathematical concepts through words and music.  Presentations last 30 minutes.  Available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (other days by request).

Choose one of these engaging tales to introduce your students to the world of storytelling through song:

Westward Ho, Carlotta by Candace Fleming
The beloved diva Carlotta Caruso heads west on a grand adventure, greeting everyone and everything with a song, including vicious villains she meets along the way.

Opera Cat by Tess Weaver
The reigning diva of Milan, Madame Soso, has a cat named Alma who secretly loves to sing along with her mistress.  When Madame develops laryngitis on opening night, guess who steps in to save the day?

The Dog Who Sang at the Opera by Jim West and Marshell Izen
Pasha is a vain wolfhound who upstages the diva one night at the opera - and not just any opera - but the Metropolitan Opera in New York City.  True story!

Bantam of the Opera by Mary Jane Auch
Luigi is a country rooster who loves singing along with the opera he hears on the radio.  When he sneaks a ride into the city hoping to see a live performance, the star of the show catches a bad case of chicken pox and threatens to cancel the performance!  Could this be Luigi's big break?
