About the Artist: Sasha Cooke sang Kitty Oppenheimer in the Metropolitan Opera premiere of John Adams's Doctor Atomic, the DVD release of which won the 2012 Grammy Award for Best Opera Recording. Her 2012-13 engagements include her San Francisco Opera debut in the title role of the world premiere of Mark Adamo's The Gospel of Mary Magdalene and Sonja in Dominick Argento's The Aspern Papers at The Dallas Opera; she also returns to the San Francisco Symphony in Beethoven's Missa Solemnis under the baton of Michael Tilson Thomas, gives the world premiere of Augusta Read Thomas's Earth Echoes with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, appears with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center both in New York and in Mecklenberg, Germany, and sings Mahler's Third Symphony with the Lyon Orchestra. She also appears in Bernstein's Jeremiah Symphony (Leonard Slatkin/Detroit Symphony), Alexander Nevsky (Pinchas Steinberg/Cleveland Orchestra), a program exploring the lives of women (New York Festival of Song), and programs with the Miró Quartet (Friends of Chamber Music Denver) and the Columbus Symphony. She is a graduate of Rice University, The Juilliard School, the Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, and Young Concert Artists. Her recent CD with the Colburn Orchestra is titled If You Love for Beauty.
