Robert Perdziola

This spring’s production of Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos marks set and costume designer Robert Perdziola’s Houston Grand Opera debut. He has designed numerous productions for leading opera houses around the world including Richard Strauss’s Capriccio (the Metropolitan Opera), Bizet’s Carmen (Lyric Opera of Chicago), The Merry Wives of Windsor (Stratford Shakespeare Festival) and An Ideal Husband (Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, D.C.). Robert received a 2008 Helpmann Award nomination in costume design for Richard Strauss’s Arabella (Opera Australia). His other recent notable credits include the world premiere of Anna Karenina by David Carlson and Colin Graham (Florida Grand Opera and Opera Theatre of St. Louis), and Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro and Così fan tutte (Garsington Opera). Mr. Perdziola is the recipient of three Helen Hayes Awards, which honor professional theatre in the Washington DC area, for costume design. He has also received the Irene Sharaff Young Masters Award. Mr. Perdziola serves on the board of directors for the Tobin Foundation for Theatre Arts in San Antonio, TX. Mr. Perdziola’s designs for Ariadne auf Naxos will be seen at Lyric Opera of Chicago next season.
