New Venue for First Three Productions:
HGO Resilience Theater @ George R. Brown Convention Center in Downtown Houston
This season will be one of triumph over adversity as we open in our temporary home at the George R. Brown Convention Center (GRB). Our talented production team will transform an exhibit hall into a unique and exciting performance space that you'll want to see for yourself.
Please note that all performance dates and times have not changed. If you currently have tickets to La traviata, Julius Caesar, or The House without a Christmas Tree, please see below for seat information.
1. What is the venue?
We are transforming Exhibit Hall A3 at the George R. Brown Convention Center into the temporary home of Houston Grand Opera, which will be called HGO Resilience Theater. It will feature approximately 1,700 seats, with a combination of stadium seating and floor seating (including wheelchair locations). To view the seating map, click here. Every seat will be less than 100 feet from the stage. The space will also give audiences more insight into and connection to the theatrical process.
2. Where is the venue located?
The George R. Brown Convention Center in Downtown Houston is located at 1001 Avenida de las Americas, Houston, TX 77010. Exhibit Hall A3 is located on the third floor at the GRB’s north end, which is at the intersection of Rusk Street, directly across from the Marriott Marquis.
3. Where is parking available?
Convenient parking is available at the Avenida North Garage located at 701 Avenida de las Americas, directly across from our new venue. A sky bridge connects the parking garage to the GRB, and there will be clear signage to direct you to our theater. More information about parking can be found here.
4. How will the productions be impacted by this venue change?
Any time there is a change to a stage or theater, productions have to be altered to accommodate the new space requirements and restrictions. We are fortunate to have the freedom in this new venue to customize the space to fit our unique needs, allowing us to maintain the artistic integrity of the productions. We assure you that we will adhere to the high level of quality audiences have come to expect from HGO.
