HGO Appearances: Houston Grand Opera Debut

About the Artist: A graduate of the Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, Morris Robinson made his Metropolitan Opera debut in Fidelio. He has since appeared there as Sarastro in The Magic Flute and the King in Aida, and in roles in Nabucco, Tannhäuser, Les Troyens, and Salome. He has also appeared at the San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, The Dallas Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, Opera Company of Philadelphia, Seattle Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Vancouver Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, and the Aix-en-Provence Festival. His repertoire includes Osmin in The Abduction from the Seraglio, Ramfis in Aida, Sparafucile in Rigoletto, the Grand Inquisitor in Don Carlos, Timur in Turandot, the Bonze in Madame Butterfly, Padre Guardiano in La forza del destino, Ferrando in Il trovatore, and Fasolt in Das Rheingold. On the concert stage, he has appeared with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra both in Chicago and at the Ravinia Festival, as well as the Altanta Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, Houston Symphony, and many others. During the 2012-13 season, Robinson returns to the Metropolitan Opera as Ferrando in Il trovatore and the Washington National Opera in Show Boat. He is singing the Commendatore in HGO's concurrent production of Don Giovanni.
