About the Artist: Hofstetter is principal conductor of the Ludwigsburg Schlossfestspiele Orchestra and Chorus. Conducting credits include Mozart’s La finta semplice, L’Oca del Cairo, and Lo sposo deluso at the Salzburg Festival; Verdi’s Il trovatore, Rossini’s Il Turco in Italia, Handel’s Alcina, and Mozart’s Così fan tutte for Hamburg State Opera; Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro and The Magic Flute for Bavarian State Opera in Munich; Gluck’s Iphigenie en Tauride for Welsh National Opera; and Handel’s Julius Caesar and Verdi’s Nabucco for Hannover State Opera. His Virgin Classics recording Rossini Arias, with countertenor Max Emanuel Cencic, was named best album of 2007 by the Academie Francaise pour le Disque Lyrique. Maestro Hofstetter is the recent recipient of the Robert Stolz Prize and the Horst Stein Prize.
