Measha Brueggergosman makes her Houston Grand Opera debut as Sister Rose in this winter’s production of Dead Man Walking by Jake Heggie and Terrence McNally. The Canadian soprano was heard across the globe earlier this year singing the Olympic Hymn in the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in Vancouver. Ms. Brueggergosman’s other engagements this season include Mahler’s Des knaben Wunderhorn in collaboration with Leif Ove Andsnes and the Risør Chamber Music Festival on a tour of performances in New York, London, Brussels and Oslo and a solo recital tour to Amsterdam, New York, San Francisco, Toronto and Vienna. This season she will also sing Vitellia in Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito at Opera Atelier in Toronto, Elettra in Mozart’s Idomeneo at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris and Jenny Smith in Weill’s The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny with Catalan Theater Company. Measha Brueggergosman holds honorary doctorates from St. Thomas University of New Brunswick and Acadia University in Nova Scotia and was awarded the Grand Prize at the 2002 Jeunesses Musicales Montreal International Competition.
