About the Artist: This season, Vordoni will conduct Lucia di Lammermoor at Minnesota Opera, where he has also conducted Les pêcheurs de perles. He has conducted Puccini’s La bohème (Santa Fe and Utah operas), Tosca (Opera on the James), Turandot (Portland Opera), and La Cenerentola (Canadian Opera Company). At the Metropolitan Opera, Vordoni worked on productions including L’elisir d’amore, Macbeth, La traviata, Aïda, La bohème, Norma, and Madama Butterfly. Other major credits include Le nozze di Figaro, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Lucia di Lammermoor, Don Pasquale, and Il trovatore. Festival appearances have included the Blackcreek, Wexford Opera, Green Mountain Opera, and Rossini Opera festivals. He has collaborated with Edoardo Müller and mezzo-sporano Joyce DiDonato, as well as the opera companies of Chicago, Colorado, Madison, Orlando, San Diego, and Seattle. Vordoni studied conducting at the Accademia Pescarese with Gilberto Serembe, and earned a diploma in opera conducting at Bologna’s Reale Accademia Filarmonica. Additional studies include piano at the Conservatorio Tartini with Neva Merlak and composition at the Accademia Musicale in Portogruaro with Mario Pagotto.
