Laura Claycomb

Soprano Laura Claycomb was last seen at HGO as Tytania in the Neil Armfield production of Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She has also appeared here as Marie in The Daughter of the Regiment, Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor, Gilda in Rigoletto, and Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare, among other roles. The Texas native made her debut at La Scala in 1998 singing the title role in Donizetti’s Linda di Chamounix and at the Salzburg Festival in 1997 as Amanda in Ligeti’s Le grand macabre. Other notable credits include Countess Adèle in Rossini’s Le comte Ory in Lausanne, Ginevra in Handel’s Ariodante in Paris and Munich, Cunegonde in Bernstein’s Candide with Opera Pacific, Sophie in R. Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier at the Spoleto Festival USA, Konstanze in Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail at Berlin State Opera and Flemish Opera and Olympia in Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffmann and the title role of Handel’s Semele at Flemish Opera. She has recently appeared as Gilda at the Teatro Municipale Giuseppe Verdi in Salerno, Italy. Her numerous concert engagements this season include Orff’s Carmina Burana in Cincinnati, Fauré’s Requiem in Naples, Italy; Handel’s Messiah in Lille, France and Frankfurt, Germany; and a program of Mozart Arias in London, England and Alès and Paris, France. This spring she also sings Mahler’s Second Symphony on a U.S. tour with Michael Tilson-Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony.
