About the Artist: A recent graduate of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at Royal Opera House, Van Kooten, has been noted for her talent and endearing charm on the operatic stage. Recent debuts include her portrayal of Almaviva in a new production of Le nozze di Figaro with Lyric Opera of Kansas City, her concert debut with San Francisco Symphony in a special New Year's Eve program with Dmitry Sitkovetsky, and a house debut as Magda in the acclaimed Nicolas Joël production of La rondine at the Metropolitan Opera. She has performed Strauss' Four Last Songs with the Hallé Orchestra and Mozart's Requiem with London Philharmonic Orchestra throughout the United Kingdom and with the BBC Philharmonic, as well as appeared as a featured soloist at the Festival of the Arts Boca. She made her Royal Opera House debut in 2004 as Magda in La rondine and return performances there have included Antonia in Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Mimi in La bohéme, and Marguerite in Faust. She made her Japanese debut as Micaëla in Carmen under the direction of Seiji Ozawa, and her United States debut performing Marguerite in Faust with the Metropolitan Opera on the Great Lawn of Central Park. A graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, Van Kooten studies voice with Rudolf Piernay. She received her bachelor's degree in vocal performance from Biola University where she studied with Dr. Jeanne Robison. Van Kooten is a graduate and perpetual member of the Torrey Honors Institute.
