About the Artist: Sigmundsson has sung nearly his entire repertoire with the Opéra National de Paris. With the Metropolitan Opera, he has portrayed Baron Ochs in Der Rosenkavalier, Hunding in Die Walküre, Rocco in Fidelio, Frère Laurent in Roméo et Juliette, and Vodnik in Rusalka. Additional performances include those as King Heinrich in Lohengrin in Munich, Madrid, on tour to Japan, and with Los Angeles Opera; King Marke in Tristan und Isolde in Berlin and Chile; Sarastro in The Magic Flute in Toulouse and Chile; L’italiana in Algeri at Vienna State Opera; Il Commendatore in Don Giovanni in Munich, Berlin, and New York; Landgraf in Tannhäuser in Geneva and at Het Muziektheater in Amsterdam; and Zaccaria in Nabucco with Royal Danish Opera. He has sung leading roles regularly with the Vienna State Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, and Semperoper Dresden; and with leading conductors including James Levine, Riccardo Muti, James Conlon, Sir Colin Davis, Charles Mackerras, and Christoph Eschenbach, among others. Concert performances have included Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Budapest Festival Orchestra on tour at Avery Fisher Hall, Dvorák’s Requiem with the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale, and excerpts of Die Walküre with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. His discography includes commercial recordings of Don Giovanni and Die Zauberflöte (Decca), Schreker's Die Gezeichneten (Deutsche Grammophon), Bach’s St. John Passion and the St. Matthew Passion (Phillips), Schumann's Faustszenen (Harmonia Mundi), and Beethoven’s Fidelio with the London Symphony Orchestra.
