John Packard

Baritone John Packard makes his Houston Grand Opera debut as Owen Hart in the HGO premiere of Dead Man Walking by Jake Heggie and Terrence McNally. Mr. Packard created the role of Joseph De Rocher in the work’s premiere in San Francisco, and has sung that role at Saxon State Opera in Dresden, New York City Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Austin Lyric Opera, and Baltimore Opera, among others. Mr. Packard’s other recent notable credits include the title role of Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd in Bologna, Italy; Braxton/ Sherrin in Bennett’s The Mines of Sulfur at the Wexford Festival in Ireland; Giorgio Germont  in Verdi’s La Traviata at the Theater Erfurt in Germany; and the title role of Rigoletto with Hawaii Opera Theatre.
