  • CPAM, the official health care provider for Houston Grand Opera, is a national leader for research, education, and treatment in this emerging health care field. The nation's most comprehensive program of its kind, CPAM was founded in 2000 by Dr. Dick Stasney to meet the special health care needs of opera singers, ballerinas, dancers, musicians, actors, and other performing artists. Dr. Stasney has personally cared for an untold number of HGO singers, ensuring their best physical condition to perform.

Houston is the third-largest home to working artists in the U.S., and CPAM fills a vital need in our community, with more than 70 physicians and dentists provided specially designed care and conducting research into the prevention and treatment of injuries suffered by performing artists.

In addition to caring for HGO artists, CPAM also supports the Concert of Arias and main stage operas like La Traviata and The Marriage of Figaro. Without the financial support of CPAM, as well as the medical care of Methodist physicians, many HGO performances simply would not have happened.
