About the Artist: Evan Rogister completed a two-year tenure as Kapellmeister at the Deutsche Oper Berlin under its music director, Donald Runnicles. In Berlin, he conducted Tannhäuser, Rienzi, Otello, and Hansel and Gretel, in addition to numerous repertoire evenings of La bohème, Carmen, and The Magic Flute. In the 2011–12 season, Rogister returned to the Deutsche Oper as a guest conductor, leading productions of Don Giovanni and Otello, later making his debut at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm in performances of a new production of Lohengrin. This summer he will lead the first performances by a major American theater of Szymanowski's twentieth-century masterpiece King Roger in a new production for The Santa Fe Opera by Stephen Wadsworth. Recent and upcoming orchestral engagements include debuts with the Montpellier National Orchestra, the Luxembourg Philharmonic, the Bochum Symphony, and the Prague Chamber Orchestra as well as the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the Alabama Symphony. In the 2012–13 season, he will make his Lyric Opera of Chicago debut conducting Rigoletto, after which he will conduct concert performances of A Streetcar Named Desire with Renée Fleming.
