Message from HGO Managing Director Perryn Leech and Artistic and Music Director Patrick Summers


We must unfortunately report that our beloved Wortham Theater Center is more damaged than previously thought. Houston Grand Opera 
will proceed with our first two operas, La traviata and Julius Caesar, in the fall and we are actively working out new locations for these performances. We will announce the details as soon as they are confirmed.

Please note that you may now use our normal Customer Care phone number, 713-228-6737, to reach our Customer Care staff between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. or email at customercare@hgo.org. If you have tickets to La traviata or Julius Caesar you do not need to contact us at this time. You may continue to purchase tickets for all operas this season, including those that will change venues. Once we know the new locations, our team will contact you regarding your tickets. We will make sure to share further updates as soon as we have them.

Although we are very sad that Hurricane Harvey has temporarily taken us away from our theatrical home, we are keenly aware that hundreds of thousands of individuals and companies around our great city are suffering much worse damage. Our hearts, dollars, physical labor, and spirits are all with our fellow citizens at this time. Houston Grand Opera is strong and determined to weather this new storm left in Harvey’s wake.

At the same time we want to express, on behalf of everyone in the Company, our deepest thanks to all of you who have made contributions to our HGOHarveyStaff@hgo.org and HGOHarveyFund@hgo.org relief funds. This invaluable assistance will help make the long road to recovery a bit easier for our colleagues and our operations. If you choose to include these funds in your support of Houston, please send an email to the address(es) above with your name, phone number, and pledged amount, but NO credit card information at this time. A member of our staff will be in touch at a later time.
