About the Artist: Native Bulgarian Elena Lacheva studied with Martin Katz at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, and last summer she was an apprentice coach in the Merola Program at the San Francisco Opera Center, working on Dominick Argento’s Postcard from Morocco. She was a répétiteur and coach for Falstaff at the University of Michigan School of Music, was a Fellow of the Tanglewood Music Center, and performed in recital in Reykjavík, Iceland. Last November, she appeared in the Musical Bridges across the World recital series in San Antonio. She collaborated in Stravinsky’s Renard with the Mark Morris Dance Group at Tanglewood and Ravel’s The Spanish Hour during Operafest at the Chicago College of Performing Arts, and performed Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Concerto with the Plovdiv (Bulgaria) Philharmonic Orchestra at age nineteen. At HGO this season she coaches Aida, The Passenger, and Das Rheingold and performs with the Studio singers in recitals and other performances.
