American soprano Ellie Dehn makes her Houston Grand Opera debut as Countess Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro this spring. She has sung Countess Almaviva at San Francisco Opera, Tulsa Opera and Opera Pacific, and her other notable Mozart credits include Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni at the Ravinia Festival in Chicago, Bavarian State Opera, Opera Pacific and PORT Opera. An alumna of the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, Ms. Dehn made her debut at the Santa Fe Opera last summer as Rosaura in the world premiere of Spratlan’s Life is a Dream. She has appeared at the Metropolitan Opera as Mrs. Naidoo in Satyagraha by Philip Glass and as Musetta in Puccini’s La bohème, and has sung Freia and Gerhilde in Los Angeles Opera’s Ring cycle. Her European credits include Agathe in Weber’s Der Freischütz at Geneva Opera and Anne Trulove in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Italy. She will return to Italy this June to sing Musetta at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, and will make her debut next season at Teatro alla Scala as Antonia in Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffmann. This fall she will sing Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at San Francisco Opera.
