About the Artist: Christof Fischesser won the first prize at the 2000 National Singing Competition in Berlin, which led to an engagement of several years at the Karlsruhe Opera, where he performed Sir Giorgio in I puritani, Graf Walter in Luisa Miller, Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Orestes in Elektra, Figaro in The Marriage of Figaro, Fiesco in Simon Boccanegra, and the title role of Mefistofele. After making his debut at the Berlin State Opera as Rocco in Fidelio under the baton of Simone Young in 2004, he was contracted there on a yearly basis, singing Sarastro in The Magic Flute, Figaro, Banquo in Macbeth, Ramfis in Aida, Klingsor in Parsifal, King Marke in Tristan and Isolde, Landgraf in Tannhäuser, Gremin in Eugene Onegin, Escamillo in Carmen, and Don Basilio in The Barber of Seville. In addition, he has sung Kaspar in Der Freischütz in Karlsruhe; Mephistopheles in Faust and Kaspar in Wiesbaden; Des Grieux in Manon and Landgraf at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden; Sir Giorgio and Don Basilio at the Vienna State Opera; and Padre Guardiano in La forza del destino in Antwerp. Future plans will take him to the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, the Salzburg and Aix-en-Provence festivals, and Zurich Opera.
