HGO appearances: Studio Artist (2010 – 12), Echo in Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos (2011), Sister Lilliane in Dead Man Walking by Heggie and McNally (2011), created the role of Diana in Cruzar la cara de la luna/To Cross the Face of the Moon by José “Pepe” Martínez and Leonard Foglia (Paris, 2011 and the world premiere in Houston in 2010), Second Niece in Britten’s Peter Grimes (2010).

About the Artist: A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, she holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. She participated in the Young American Artist Program at Glimmerglass Opera, where she performed the role of the Spirit in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. She was a member of the 2008 Wolf Trap Opera Studio program, and in 2007, she participated in the Opera Theatre and Music Festival of Lucca where she sang Beppe in Mascagni’s L’amico Fritz. Wheeler performs the role of Marzelline in Beethoven’s Fidelio, Annina in Verdi’s La traviata and the Celestial Voice in Verdi’s Don Carlos with HGO this season.
